Irish Car Auctions Snapshot

We took a trip over to Dublin last week to have an eyeball at the Irish auction scene. Recent conversations with Irish car dealers has revealed a tale of woe, with some of the oldest established dealerships in the country going under in the recession. And yet despite this gloom there is still a steady stream of cars being exported over from England. The trade is basically very healthy if you have the right, Low emmissions under 3 year old stock. If however you are stuck with mileagy petrol cars with dodgy emmissions then the running costs are crippling, as a result there is a flow of people diving out of these cars.On some models we cant help but think they are cheap enough to export into England.

On Auction night it was a bit unclear what cars where formally sold and what ones went  provisional, we tend to only publish sold prices on the site but after blowing the budget on Ryanair  flights we think we have to publish what we presumed sold. Some of the ex finance cars were a bit on the rough side however U.K auctions could learn from Merlins car assessments which thoroughly  listed all known imperfections and didnt just give the car an overall value grade which varied from auction centre to auction centre.
