UK Market View July/Aug’ I To L

UK Market View July/Aug’ I To L

Market view by brand I through L.   July/August 2011 Jaguar: There are very few petrol X-Types about which is a good thing because only a megaspec   fresh car has serious retail potential. Like their Donor car the Mondeo, used  X-type Diesels are plentiful and while they have levelled off in the last six months they are still a good seller. Even intergalactic mileage cars in good nick are selling well. A 2.2 Auto is still a sought after bit of stock for garages. The older estates are getting harder to move and buyers are avoiding them unless cheap. The … Continue reading

Japanese Auction round up July

Japanese Auction round up July

It continues to be a struggle to buy UK and Irish stock in Japan. Prices are not the main problem as cars that come to market tend to be sold, and there is not a huge amount of competition. Cars actually coming to market is a problem and as older diesels get rarer we live in hope that some of the sportier models that still sell will start making there way to auction.Heres a round up of a few cars we spotted on our travels HAA Kobe 2009 R35 Premium edition Black 17K Y5,600,000.  2000 R34 V-Spec Silver 129K … Continue reading

Irish Car Auctions Snapshot

Irish Car Auctions Snapshot

We took a trip over to Dublin last week to have an eyeball at the Irish auction scene. Recent conversations with Irish car dealers has revealed a tale of woe, with some of the oldest established dealerships in the country going under in the recession. And yet despite this gloom there is still a steady stream of cars being exported over from England. The trade is basically very healthy if you have the right, Low emmissions under 3 year old stock. If however you are stuck with mileagy petrol cars with dodgy emmissions then the running costs are crippling, as … Continue reading

UK Market View June/July 2011 E to H.

UK Market View June/July 2011 E to H.

Market view by brand E through H.  June/July 2011 Fiat: The Little 500 has been a supreme performer since launch, and while they are not about to plummet all those cheap monthly lease specials are dripping back into the market providing a lot of options for buyer. Supermarkets and dealers will be pushing deals to move a lot of stock over the summer. If you are buying then Solid colours are best. Grande Punto: Our hire car of choice is really heading for the bargain bin over 4 years of age. Fresher cars are still saleable with lower miles. … Continue reading

UK Market View June/July 2011 A to D.

Market view by brand A through D.  June/July 2011   ALFA ROMEO: Fear of running costs is not helping Alfas at the moment and once they go over 3 years or start approaching above average miles they are becoming a less viable retail proposition for dealers. The GT Coupe Blackline with the 1.9 JTD diesel unit is sought after. The Mito has been well received and is holding up well, Like the fiat 500 it is selling best in solid colours red,Black and White. Too early to pass comment on the Giulietta with most cars remaining  within the dealer … Continue reading

Mid Year U.K Market Report.

Mid year used car Market report June/July 2011’ The Used car Market had remained strong all year, to the point where we were starting to think they must be making up this whole recession because we can’t buy cars.  And then around the start of May the market started to behave like we were assured it would, and prices began to drop. For a few weeks sellers held off in the hope that it was a glitch and that prices were about to come back. It was no glitch, it was a market correction and now cars are selling … Continue reading
